I move

From the bed to the floor.

To stretch the worries from my body.

I stretch

And breathe

And a shadow purrs at me.

A puppy tongue grazes my toe,

Then a tail settles atop it

Night is night, and time for sleep

Even if mama has moved from her place.

The animals are wise

Following their example,

My thoughts return to the now,

And sleep becomes possible again.
