It’s the middle of the night, and as I get up to use the bathroom, I notice that the dog is in the bed, but the cat isn’t. I idly wonder if she’s sleeping in her new cat tree instead, but she isn’t. Drowsily, I head off to the bathroom.
When I return, the cat is in the cat tree, purring. I pet her as I pass, return to my bed, and lie down. She comes over and lies down on my chest as though she hasn’t seen me in months.
Which, of course, she hasn’t, because she clearly just reappeared from another dimension, where dime runs differently.
Cats, I tell you.
